Small Business Host Webhost.UK.Net Announces Free Open Source SSL Certificates

6 October 2016

Small business host WEBHOSTUK LIMITED (Webhost.UK.Net) has announced it is now offering free Open Source (OS) SSL certificates to its customers. Webhost.UK.Net, which has headquarters in London, United Kingdom, specializes in “cheap yet reliable and secure” Linux and Windows-based web hosting.

Webhost.UK.Net offers a wide range of web hosting services including shared, reseller, cloud VPS and Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting alongside dedicated server options, domain registration, ecommerce options and WordPress, Joomla and Drupal hosting. The company is leveraging “Let’s Encrypt” for its latest offer.

Let’s Encrypt is a “free open source alternative to traditional, commercial SSL certificates”. The solution provides security certificates through an automated domain-validated (DV certificate) system with the aim of making “web browsing safer for all Internet users”. Aside from being free of charge and auto renewable, Let’s Encrypt certificates are easy to install and can be setup without requiring validation emails. The system does not require dedicated IPs and is “trusted by all major browsers”. Webhost.UK.Net can apply Let’s Encrypt certificates directly from their hosting account’s cPanel control panel.

“We’re truly delighted to announce that WebHostUK now offers easy, unlimited, free SSL certificates to users on our shared and reseller web hosting plans,” explained Max Foster, Webhost.UK.Net’s Head of Business Development. “By making SSL deployment a simple, easy to click process, we’re continuing to empower our users to focus valuable time and energy on their businesses and projects.”
