British Web Host PoundHost Rebrands

13 June 2016

British web host PoundHost Internet Limited (PoundHost) has announced a rebrand that includes a change in name. PoundHost, which has headquarters in Perdiswell Park, Worcester, United Kingdom, offers a range of services including cloud servers, dedicated servers, SSD-VPS, colocation, big data applications and SSL certificates. The company operates a 50,000 square-foot-facility in the Thames Valley.

Established in 2001, the company’s name came from the fact its initial web hosting services cost only £1 per megabyte. The rebranding reflects the company’s broader scope and removes any restrictions its original name caused - the British ‘pound’ is no longer central to the company’s identity. PoundHost’s move into international markets, particularly in Europe, was a precursor to it changing its brand and it now goes by the name ‘Simply Hosting and Servers’ (Simply).

“We are proudly British and our top-class datacentres are here in the UK but our future aspirations go much further afield,” Simply’s Commercial Manager Abhinav Mathur explained. ”It’s quite ironic that the nation’s current focus is on Brexit and the British pound, whilst we focus on moving away from it and the restrictions it has had on our brand. We chose the name ‘Simply’ because it’s flexible, has International appeal and does exactly what it says - keeps things simple.”
